About the Teachers
Decades of experience. A shared passion for developing young musicians.
Benjamin Choupak
Advanced & Pre-Professional Students
Benjamin Choupak specializes in advanced and pre-professional students. Holding a Master's Degree in Piano Performance and with decades of concert performance and teaching experience, he brings a depth of knowledge that is essential for students working at the highest levels of classical piano. Benjamin is a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California, Los Altos Branch.
Many of Benjamin's students are transfers from other teachers who seek more rigorous, professional-level training. His students have earned top honors at MTAC, CAPMT, ABRSM, and numerous international competitions, and several have gone on to pursue music professionally.
Benjamin's approach is methodical and uncompromising in its standards, yet deeply supportive. Whether coaching a student through demanding competition repertoire or preparing them for conservatory auditions, his instruction is shaped by his own experience on stage and a commitment to developing complete artists.
Viola Choupak
Beginner & Intermediate Students
Viola Choupak specializes in beginner and intermediate students, guiding them from their very first lesson through solid technical and musical foundations. Her warm, encouraging teaching style puts students at ease while maintaining the structure and discipline that real progress requires.
Holding a Master's Degree in Piano Performance, with extensive training in both performance and music education, Viola has a particular gift for helping younger students develop a genuine love for music. She is a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California, Palo Alto Branch. Viola emphasizes musicality, expression, and careful listening from the start — skills that set her students up for long-term success.
Students under Viola's guidance develop not only technical proficiency but also the confidence and discipline that extend far beyond the piano bench. Her students are well-prepared for recitals, CM and ABRSM exams, and the transition to advanced study.
Our Approach
Our Teaching Philosophy
At Choupak Piano Studio, we believe that every student has the capacity for genuine musical expression. Our role is to provide the technical tools, the repertoire knowledge, and the supportive environment that allows each student's musicality to emerge.
We emphasize disciplined, focused practice habits; deep understanding of musical structure; and the confidence that comes from thorough preparation. Our students don't just learn pieces — they learn how to learn, a skill that serves them for life.
